The camp from the granite slope above — tent cabins and the central buildings tucked into the forest clearing. The main clearing at golden hour, with the shingle-sided main building at right and granite domes rising behind the trees. Folding chairs gathered outside the log cabin with the wagon wheels. Wagon wheels and a bench on the log wall of one of the camp's historic cabins. A shingle-sided camp building in the clearing, beneath the white granite wall above the Merced River canyon. The welcome porch — "Merced Lake High Sierra Camp, Elevation 7250 ft." Merced Lake itself, ringed by glacially polished granite. The camp sits near its outlet. A weathered trail sign — "Merced Lake, Elev 7250" — on a pine along the lakeshore trail. The camp office and its front porch, with the morning sun in the trees. Paths converging at the heart of camp, the office at right and guest tents beyond. Stone-lined paths converging on the main building, tent cabins at the treeline. Tent cabins ringing the campfire circle and its green benches. Rows of canvas guest tent cabins under the pines at dusk. Guests gathering outside the dining hall for a meal. Evening light across the clearing between the camp's outbuildings. Walking into camp past the campfire circle in the morning sun. A footpath forking through camp between the guest tents. The campfire circle and tent-cabin row from the meadow paths. Looking out between two tent cabins toward the center of camp. The main building framed by a tent cabin's doorway — an earlier era on film. The boarded-up workshop and log cabins during the camp's long closure. The American flag flying over the Merced Lake H.S.C. sign at the camp entrance. Furniture staged outside the buildings, the bare tent frames beyond. Bare tent-cabin frames waiting for canvas at season's start. The shingled workshop under the pines, granite slabs behind. Merced Lake from the granite bench above, looking down-canyon. Canvas rolls and furniture staged at the main building during setup week. Rows of empty tent frames on the meadow before the canvas goes on. Furniture set out to air beside the open workshop door.
